Hello, sorry for the double post. In this pic you see the stringers stopping at the gas tank, which is about where the dash is. There are no stringers past that under the bow. Should i add a set of stringers to the sides of gas tank or is this sufficient. This is the way i found it before the restore. I just dont want it splitting in half coming down a big wake or something like that. Thanks for your help.

No you don't need to add stringers, but I would check the wood good underneath the gas tank. Looks like a piece of 1/2" ply there.

Did it fail or cause any issues in the first 30 years of use? This should give you the answer you need.

Thanks for your advice. I wasnt sure if the prev. Owner had cut out stringers to put that gas tank in. So no extra stringers it is than. Thwnks. Good eye on that 1/2" plywood. Its a new piece i fiberglassed it in and painted it black. Thanks again.

Re: add another stringer?

Did you find the stringers that way from the previous PO? It does not LOOK to me like those are the original stringers. Did YOU replace em? If NOT then I HIGHLY suspect that the PO did some MODS to the stringer configuration in order to move the fuel tank forward in the bow. I would do some investigation on the web to confirm that this IS the correct layout for this boat. It is HIGHLY SUSPECT to me. At the very least I would expect a bulkhead across the front of the tank. What Make/Model/and Year is this Boat?

Hello woodonglass. I replaced tue stringers using the old stringers as a template. This is how it was when i cut open the deck (or what was left of the deck). Its a '90 19' galaxie. I cant find to much info on internet about this boat. Thanks again.

OK, I am NOT familiar with that boat so I cannot say for sure, but it just looks funny to me. I guess time will tell.

Youve given me some advice before, so if you say it looks funny im gonna add another set of stringers. I plan on having my kids on this boat so i want it to be safe. Thanks.

Hello, i added a few more pics, sorry for the messy one. The mixing cup is where the stringer stops. Im planning on adding stringers on both sides of gas tank. Thoughts?

I think you are wise to put some support under the open bow area. Even if the original design did not have it (which I suspect it did).

I'd glass in some support, possibly bulkhead style from side to side, with decking on top of it......run stringer extensions down sides of gas tank.
