you'll add to much if ya fill with the rams extended. all the fluid is in the rams.
don't know what year ya got. but from s/m #6 it talks about how to fill the system. then it goes on tell about bleeding. the first thing is says there is "fill pump reservoir to proper level as explained preceding. (trim cylinder must be compressed)".
i certainly fill my old drive with the rams compressed. that way i know how much fluid is in the reservoir. when extending the rams, the fluid comes from the reservoir and fills the rams, leaving the reservoir with less or little fluid in it. if you fill with the rams extended. you'll way over fill it.
