Is there a way to add a trim switch to the throttle lever on a control box that doesn't have a trim switch? I'm getting real close to installing the retrofit trim on my 72 100 HP Johnson and I need to install a trim switch. I would prefer to put it on the throttle handle but the installation needs to look good. The 72 control box is kinda unique so I don't think its as simple as switching throttle levers.
TIA

Russ In Texas

I would appreciate that. Did you actually switch levers or did you add something to the exsisting lever?

Russ In Texas

Re: Add-on trim switch

I used the switch from the early to mid 70's control box. I trimmed off the section that goes over the top of the control handle. I took the switch apart, and drilled two holes in the back. I then took the handle apart, and drilled two holes to match the switch. I bolted it to the handle with two # 8, or # 10 pan head bolts. A switch that goes on the steering wheel might easier.

Make sure you use a quality MARINE GRADE switch. I've seen the cheapys stick.
