Adding a Battery

I have a 1999 Bayliner Capri 1950 and I was thinking about adding a battery. I was wondering if anyone out there has added a battery to this model. I'm thinking I would have to place the new battery on the opposite side of the current battery, but it seems like it would be cramped in there and may interfere w/ the blower and hose.

Thanks!

Re: Adding a Battery

check on iboats for the battery switch, you need the batt 1 on, batt 2 on, off, both switch........I would certainly add a batt isolator so they can be charged separately by the alternator...............

x2 on the battery isolator! I have an engine starting battery and a deep cycle for electronics all automatically managed by a Blue Seas 7610. The Blue Seas is a neat device and I avoided any need for battery switches.

Re: Adding a Battery

I found it a lot easier is to just carry one of these:
nautilus.jpg

it even has emergency navigation lights and an air compressor for trailer tires... as well as an LED worklight... cost me way less than a battery and isolator. also has AC outlets and a USB charger port.
800 amps
and in the winter it goes in the back of my truck for boosting.

Have you put in to use? Can you share the make and model? I am looking for one in place of a second battery for my BR. Thanks.

Adding a battery can be difficult when you're dealing with tight spaces. The portable is a solution and might work for you but you can also look at Optima batteries which tend to come in smaller but potent packages. I run two and have plenty of room in a space that wouldnt allow for 2 lead/acids. The Optima's are pricey but well worth it beyond just the smaller size.
