I am looking to purchase a Aquasport Osprey 215. There is no center cleat and I would like one added to accomodate spring lines. Is there a risk (other than everything is a risk) with negotiating with the dealer to add this.

Re: Adding a Cleat

This should not be a problem. Just make sure the dealer uses a beefy backing plate under the deck. Something like a 1/4" aluminum plate should be OK.

Im not sure if they can just put a cleat anywhere. You may want to check this out with Aquasport fella....

you may want to see if retractable cleats would work. don't want to snag a line on that fishing machine!

Dealer should know where to add cleat and how to do it. Should not be a problem.

MAke sure your boat dealer does it the correct way. Self tapping screws and some silicone will not hold. You need a backing plate, stainless steel bolts and 3m 5200. Check that your dealer DOES IT RIGHT.
