I have a coup[le of 2 horsepower OMC engines, a 1974 Evinrude and a 1978 Johnson. Of course there were no lanyard type Engine Kill Switches on motors of this era.
I have come up with a bracket to mount a switch to the stbd side of the motor. Is there any reason that a switch like this should not be used on a rope started magneto type ignition found on 1970's small outboards?
I believe it can be just wired into the magneto wire and the ground and use the lanyard just as you can a modern engine.
Thanks for any help on this
