Adding a pedestal seat question

Hi,
I have a 17ft Bow rider that is fairly new to me ( first season first boat )

I have some fixed fiberglass seats I got from a C/L add and would like to put them on my boat as pedestal seats, I was thinking one in the front and one in the back and that brings me to my dilemma. All of the pedestal seats I have seen that are removable leave a post sticking up when you remove them.

I would like to have some kind of mount that is as close to the floor as possible without drilling huge holes in my floor for the posts. I use this boat for just bout everything on the water, tubing, knee boarding and of course fishing. I'd like to take the seats out when I want to have a day of fun instead of fishing.

I have searched this forum and have not seen this question asked.

Any suggestions or product recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Re: Adding a pedestal seat question

The only thing I can think of are the swivel eeze seat parts... you get a piece that mounts to the bottom of the seat, a base for it to go into, and then there is an "add a pole" part for the middle(couple of heights available) if you want to convert it up to a pedestal seat... the center pole is removable, and stowable. The only drawback is, it does require you to drill about an 1-1/4" hole in the deck for the pole part to go down into... I know you said you didnt want to drill big holes, but only thing I can think of...

here are some pics:

Hope that helps!

Re: Adding a pedestal seat question

Hey there,

I just got mine from wally world aka walmart.

They aren't as "sturdy" as a solid pole would be (I wouldn't drive around with someone sitting up on it when the pole is in), but they work fine on my bowrider for fishing... (basically decked the front, and stuck one in the middle to do like you do, fish, ski, everything).

They offer a different branded set here on iboats:

Seat Set

Here's a link for walmart's list (but they dont show the piece that goes on the seat bottom:

Walmart Seats

but they have just the bottom here at iboats as well:
Seat bottom

I am sure there are other things out there, this is just what I use because its not as expensive as most systems, and when the seat is out, it just leaves a plate on the deck which is very low profile.

Hope that helps!
