My merc 50 blueband is a shortshaft and I can't see the pee stream from the wheel whilst moving as it's too low down and hidden by the stern.

Is there enough water pressure or any likelyhood of it working if I add a T-piece into the telltale hose and put a sideways peehole in too?

It'd be nice to be able to see that I'm pumping water ok whilst moving.

Just connect a long hose and have it pee on your foot. Wet foot? Happy motor! ;)

you could add a water pressure guage at the helm.
.But don't forget to drain the hose in the winter.

Rich

that's not a bad idea but I'd rather not cut any more holes in my dash. Is it possible to get a water pressure alarm instead?

Hi Nos,
The hose that leads to the telltale can very easily be re-routed whereever you want it to go. You can drill and tap for a small brass fitting on the top of the cowling if you really wanted to. ..
- Scott

:D that'd really get on the nerves of a skier as it sprays in their face!

If there's enough water pressure behind the telltale to do that then I'll just move it to the side then.

Much appreciated.
