Adding a water separator?

I'd like to add a water separator this year to the boat. Trying to find a good mounting point with the 4.3 Mercruiser I/O. So far the only place that looks decent is under the front of the motor in the bilge. Is this a bad idea? Can it be higher than the fuel pump??

Ayuh,... Sure,... Closer is Better, but not mandatory...

Put where it can be got to, to change as Easily as possible...
