Afternoon I have a 2007 Scout 282 sportfish. I m adding a windlass. The boat is pre-wired for it. I have found the wires at the bow. But I can't find the other end. I have looked under the helm and in the battery compartment. But can't seem to find them. Has anyone else done this? If so can you guide me on how to find the wires? I have called Scout. They just said look under the helm. Any ideas?

Typically, you will have large wires running from the battery switch area to the bow. So, if your battery switches are in a different location than your batteries or the helm, look there.

The control switch (up/down) wiring may be at the helm, but probably not the main power wiring, as those would be very large diameter wires and given the shortest run to the bow as possible.

Keep in mind that even if the wiring was run at the factory, you will still have a fair amount of work to do. There is probably not a dedicated circuit breaker installed, and there is probably not the main solenoid installed, and I assume the helm switch is not installed. So, not a slam-dunk by any means.

Maybe the folks at Scout can send you some wiring diagrams for the boat, which may help track the wiring down. Also, there may be (should be) some labeling to the wiring.
