Adding Camper Top enclosure to existing top

I presently have a 30ft cruisers and want to add a camper top. I am going to work with a friend to acquire the Sunbrela material and will begin simply with the individual panels w/o windows then after well fit, will add screens, windows, and shades. My question...is there a preferred method to installing the screens, windows and shades? for instance, is there a pro or con to opening the window or shade with a U shaped Zipper, (either rightside up U or upside down U), or would it be preffered to have straight vertical zippers on each side of the glass and shade? For the right side up U, I hear that they will collect water and drip, and the Upside down U is dificult to securly roll down... usually ends up on the floor... If opting for the dual straight sipper, who do you secure the bottom of the window ... snaps or velcro? I'm interested in hearing your opinions...

Since you're talking about kind of like a tent, you might see what people that sew tents themselves have to say, I assume similar issues..
