Okay I am adding a cmc pt 130 power tilt and trim to my 16 ft bass tracker deep V. The moter is a 1981ish 40 hp mercury outboard. Now I will have to start form scratch when adding the cmc because no holes line up, and my moter has never been set right because it kicks up alot of water at 22mph which was my top speed. So my main question is how do i figure out the correct moter hieght, How low should the hydrafoil set under the bottom of the transom? right now it is about 1 inch. Will the 6 inch setback change anything on the moter hieght?. Any more tips please let me know.

Wildlifedesigner,

Your problem with your slow speed and water kick up is because your original installation was too low.

The cavitation plate ("hydrofoil"-your words) should be EVEN with the the bottom (keel/lowest point) of the boat or as much as an inch higher, for you application.

Start by mounting the CMC so that the cavitation plate is EVEN with the bottom of the boat. You can always go, up or down, from there.

If you have an "add on" hydrofoil mounted to your cavitation plate-trash it.

Fill the old transom holes with stainless steel bolts and a liberal dose of 3M 5200 sealant. The same goes (sealant) for the mounting of the CMC unit.

I think your boat will, "wake up".

Okay ran into a problem. When setting the cav. plate even or higher than the bottom of the boat would you setit at its lowest trim setting or an approximate "right" trim setting?. Right now the mounting plate is 3.5 inches higher than the back of the boat and its even with the bottom
