I have an RCA HTS-1000 DVD player with surround speakers, it always overheats... so tonight I took it apart and the cooling fan clicks on for 2 seconds when the power putton is pushed on, then a faint "click" is heard and the fan stops, like a circuit breaker is clicking.

I can trace the problem and try to fix it, or I can hardwire a couple of CPU case fans to the top and back and be done.

The question is, most cooling fans are 12VDC, where can I find 12VDC? The power supply is a transformer, wires come out of two opposite ends. The 120 VAC power cord comes into the case, and plugs directly onto the circuit board marked AC1 and AC2. Right next to that are two additional plugs, one is marked TR IN and goes to the transformer via blue wires; and the other is marked AC SW and goes to the DVD device.

The transformer has many additional wires. I hope to splice into one and run it to a switch on the case, then to the fan.... any thoughts?

To make the explanation even longer, the clicking sounds appears to be coming from a little black box with MASSUSE ME-1-12BS 12VDC stamped on it. Don't know if this is a circuit breaker... and if it is... is it faulty or is there a problem elsewhere. At this point I would rather find 12 VDC wires, tap into them, add the big fan and be done.
