adding gage wire to another battery

I have a 2 battery's 1 for cranking and 1 for trolling , I want to add another battery for more run time. I believe
this is a parallel hook up for 12v. adding wire to pos to pos.....and neg to neg. but not sure what size wire to use.
someone said use the same as the trolling motor. what size wire can I get away with for this application.....thanks

What in the world are you driving that will need 2 Gauge wire? Your trolling motor will never ever draw enough current to warrant 2 gauge wire ever! 6 Gauge will do it without issue. As I understand you merely want long run time, not more current draw. Unless you are going to draw well over 300 amps, what is the 2 gauge wire for?

Went to the auto store and found 2 ....6 ga. ,18" with
term rings. Yea I though the 2 gage was a little big.....lol

Sorry the 2 gauge wire is what most battery cables at auto stores are made of. When I looked last time at my local store, that is all the had in stock. The 6 gauge will be fine. I was just tring to use standard battery cables.
