I have a Garmin 192C loaded with coastal charts. The charts were pre loaded when purchased. I want to add Inland Lakes. I have located the DVD. Can this be loaded to my 192C from my lap top or will I have to use it with my lap top ?

Assuming you've already paid to unlock the chart set on the CD, all you have to do is download the maps to the unit.

HAving said that, you're limited to a number of maps that you can have on the unit at one times by the memory in your machine. You may not be able to load all the maps at the same time.

I am not sure of the storage capability of the unit. As you said, maybe I can download just the lake or lakes I need. When I purchase the DVD, I should receive the proper info to "unlock" if need be. I did not realize the unit had additional data storage. One would think it would be filled to the max with all of the coastal info it contains.

I down loaded your manual and it's a bit confusing. It says your unit can use the Mapsource and Bluechart CDs but it seems that you have to put the maps on a chip to use them.

I had an earlier model and I just downloaed the maps to the unit itself. The unit didn't accomdate maps on chip
