My motor is a 1991 Johnson 60HP with manual tilt. I'm looking at the possibilities of adding power tilt to this motor because it actually is a pretty big motor to be tilting manually. What all would be required to do this to my motor as is, and what might be the best way to get a power unit? Are they pretty universal for Johnson/Evinrude years? Is it worth the trouble and $?

I have just recently changed out the tilt tube and the bushings as they were very worn out.

Re: Adding Power Tilt

I have an 81 50 rude w/o trim and I river fish so the lack of trim was killing me on prop strike and blowing out lower units.
After looking into it I went with an aftermatket CMC tilt trim,I looked for awhile for OEM parts, new was too expensive and used looked pretty dicey, where the CMC is bolt-on and ready to go out of the box with a warranty.
I have had it for 4 years and never had a single problem with it, real quality part.
They are a little expensive ($500+) but alot cheaper than lower units and I am sure alot cheaper than getting OMC parts.
It is the easiest cleanest way to get it done, I got mine from Bass Pro but shop around, maybe even check EBAY.
