Adding speakers... best spot?

Just wondering if anyone has added speakers to their glastron... and what the best spot might be. I have the two under the dash on the left and right. 01 gx185 has limited locations to where they could be placed. Just trying to get some better sound while cruising and anchored at a cove. I am not adding a tower. Let me know what you guys have done and pics if you have them :) Thanks!

Yes. Pics of the speakers that have been installed other than the factory ones under the dash... if you have them :)

Wow... no one has added any speakers to their boat? I am still trying to find a solution. I am thinking a smaller 3.5" speaker added up higher in the sidewall or something. C'mon you guys... i know you have added speakers without adding a tower.

Re: Adding speakers... best spot?

I added some Sony component speakers to mine and a buddies Glastron. Not sure how yours is set up but I added the 6" on either side of the back bench(almost in the back of the seat where the hatch lifts up) and the 2" tweeter up higher on the side rail. The higher the better. Also, keep in mind that speakers are directional. Where ever they are pointed, thats where the sound goes. I have the same speakers in mine. I have 2 sets of the Sony component speakers. Excellent value and sound! One set up near front on sides, 6" down low and the 2" up high. The back set is mid way up on either side (at the bench seat) and the 2" up high. I plan to add another set this spring and another subwoofer. www.Onlinecarstereo.com is where I got most of my stuff. Best prices around. I will try to find some pics if that helps.

I may just cut holes in the gel/glass in the bow seating area...fwd of the sidewall padding. It seems like the best open area to mount a typical 6.5" speaker. Wife wants to just leave the boat alone for this year. I say where's the fun in that? Plus that should give me nice access to change out the bow eye.

Here is a pic showing the factory front speaker location in my previous boat, a 2007 GXL185. I don't know what brand they used, but they sounded ok.
If you have enough room you may be able to do something similar.

Well, i went ahead and buzzed a hole in the gel/ fiberglass and mounted some 5 1/4's. They sound pretty good considering they are powered by the stock headunit.
