I need to add a Tach to my 86 125 Force. I thought I read a thread a little while again that said you have to use a 20 pole tach. Is that correct? Would a tach from an auto parts store not work? I don't want to waste my money at the auto parts store and I don't have a boat dealer very close. Could someone shed some light on this before I go waste more money.

Re: Adding Tach

Look here on Iboats for a Teleflex 20-pole Tach. Ebay & Sporqster are other options. I've also heard that Faria makes a 20-pole tach, but at the same time, I've heard that they no longer make it. I can recommend buying parts here on Iboats, their prices are okay & they deliver it to your door. I bought a Tach from Sporqster, and it seems to work fine. Its an off brand, but it works just fine and was much cheaper than the Teleflex.

20 pole tach from Sporqster for less than $25. I'm about to install mine.

Re: Adding Tach

Also look on ebay.. I just bought a new Faria tach that was set for for a 20 pole stator from a seller called Great Lakes Skipper, Tach was pretty nice and got it for around 40 bucks.

On Farias website it say they dont make em anymore.
