HI all. I am planning on adding a power trim and tilt unit to my 1985 90 hp Evinrude. This motor did not come with trim/tilt originally. Will the unit from the other models from the same year hook up to my motor? I have found a few used units locally and they look like the bolt holes and things would line up but I don't want to assume! Also, are there any wiring diagrams out there for how to get it working?

It will fit but you also need the relay box that is on the engine.

Most all of the V4/V6 crossflow trim units will bolt universally between units. You need to be careful when looking for a used unit. You would need to purchase both the hydraulic unit as well as the dedicated electrical box to run the motor. The early trim units used a 3 wire motor with a large electrical box that had single old-style solenoid. That box mounted under the rear of the boat. Mid-year 1981 OMC changed to a 2-wire motor which used a different electrical box that used solid state trim relays. The electrical boxes and trim units have to be matched to function properly.

This trim unit is a 1985 and seems to have two wires. Thanks for the help!

I have found that you can use a polarity reversing solenoid similar to what's used in the winches on jeeps and stuff for the 2 wire motors if you can't find a good used oem electrical box. the solenoid looks like this. You just need to find a nice water resistant box to put it in.

You should be in good shape with that 2-wire system. The 2-wire trim unit electrical relay control box for your engine will mount on the back exhaust cover of the powerhead. Likely that outer cover is already drilled for the box mounting.

Fantastic! It looks like this shouldn't be much trouble.
