Is this a dumb idea? I have to pull the cap off anyway. It wouldn't be a true tunnel hull, just a pocket tunnel. Not really built for high speeds either. I fish VERY stumpy water. If I could raise the prop a little it would help a ton. I would be moving at trolling speeds in the stump field.

I believe with some design, planning and good fiberglass work a modified tunnel could be added...then you could raise your transom by about 6 inches....would help a good bit on the stumps....good luck!

I found my first power boat. It has been setting for a number of years now. It had rain water in it when I looked it over last weekend. I'm sure the transome and stringers are all rotted. Outer hull looked to be in decent shape. I may get it and bring it back to life.

Ayuh,... By cuttin' a trench in the underside of yer hull, 'n creatin' a tunnel, you'll effectively reduce it's height in the water at rest,...

'cause you've remove some of the hull's displacement of water,...

You may end up with exactly the opposite of what yer tryin' to do,...
