if it changes rpm when turning are you sure you have the barrel on the cable in tight to the motor? Sounds like maybe not.

Sorry guy have no digital camera to post picture of assy cable end.
But from what your asking yes it is connected throug the brass pin all the way and even into the little hole at the end of the sleve and the steal keeper is there to .
I did how ever have a thought that maybe this being an older motor that is new to me that when i fully accelarate that i may have moved one of the plug wires losse or were they meet the coils not sure though just a thought
I'll see if i can borrow my daughters camers and ket a pic up of it .
thank's

does any one have or no were i can get a proper picture of the control cable hook up for the throttle and shifter cables on a 1964 40 hp seahores manual shift motor ?
the length of the boat is 14 ft. and the cables the guy put on are 13 ft.
I have tryed to reinstall them around 6 times now but every time i take the boat out it works fine for a bit and back to the same old slow speed at full throttle till i turn the weel a little to left and it kicks in bue as i straighten out it slows again
I know get the manual and all your troubles will disapear i have one coming
but theres only a few good weeks left to fish so if any one could help with this would be greatfull.

The 13ft cables may or may not be correct for your boat depending on the routing between the remote control box and the motor! Did you ask "the guy who put the cables on" about your problem? Also, did anything else happen about the same time the throttle cable problem started since you said everything worked great until then? The experts on this forum, which I am NOT, can help you resolve any problem with your motor but you have to be their eyes and ears since they only know what you tell them. They usually like to get a engine model number as a starting point. Good luck!

sounds like you are not mounted correctly, pictures of the connections at motor, pic of control box would help. this way we know what you have.

you can up load to a free service like photobucket.com then you choose the pictures you want( clik the little box at the bottom left of the picture) scrool to the bottom of the page, clik generate html, it will take you to the next page, scroll down to thumb nails clik on that and copy, then insert it into your post.

also if you are planing on posting pictures, you can use the Blue post reply or the go advanced, manage attachments, there you can upload , directly from your computer. besure you pictures have been resized to fit the format.

One thing i did notice was that when i lifted the engine out of the water and put it back in the water (tilt) that is there were some weed around the part of the motor that water i think gets drawn up.
After i did that it ran fine .
Do you think that would cause this trouble?
the model is RDS-26S
Serial #c397061
The lake that i was on is known to be very weedy
But i don't see any others having this prob.
Not even the smaller motors.
The cable rout is From side of steering wheel to back of boat then out the center of boat well left to shifter and right to throtal
