Adhesive Caulk for cup holder

My boat has a cup holder at its stern and while cleaning I noticed the adhesive is no longer sealing the cup holder in place. The cup holder fits snugly but I can remove it by just pulling it out. There is a bead of adhesive or caulk that used to hold it in place.

Are cup holders usually sealed in place? I bought this boat used so I have no idea if the adhesive was from the factory or the previous owner. The boat's cover will cover the cup holder. If it should be sealed, I'm thinking of using 3M 4200. Any other recommendations?

Thanks.

Just needs caulk to hold it in place. I think 4200 stays soft if so it would work.

I replaced my plastic ones with SS and the adhesive doesn't stick; I plan to recaulk with clear silicon. I don't think it really matters as long as you don't use something permanent.

Sounds like a bead of clear silicone rubber wound do the trick....then easy to remove later, if needed....

If it's a snug fit then I'd leave it be as it is easier to remove for cleaning that way.

I had one that was a snug fit and it blew out the first time I pulled the boat :(
