adhesive m?

just rebuilding my 85 30 evinrude and was wondering a few things,first i was intalling the bypass cover and it said to use adhesive m?what is this similar to? also the manual said that i must use a fixture to tighten the connecting rods, is there a way to do this without the fixture?thanks guys

I asked the parts guy at my OMC dealer about "adhesive M" and he sold me a tube of bellows adhesive. That worked fine.

3M Scotch-Grip 847, Rubber & Gasket Adhesive.
OMC / BRP spec replacement for no longer available Adhesive M.

You take a lead pensil and sharpen it to a good sharp point. Check your rod cap alignment with that. The gauge is fine if you want to spend the bucks on it or can't borrow one.
