Hello Ole' Buddies, Got A Question For Ya' . Got A Johnson 150 Motor, and It's On A 17 Ft. Javlin, now My Question: There Is A Adjustable Tab On The Back Of The Motor Above The Lower Unit, with Number's On It. You Can Loosen It An It Will Turn Diffrent Degrees. Now My Boat, when Running Down The Lake ( Slow Speed Ofcourse, when I Do This),and Let Go Of The Wheel ,the Boat Takes An Immediate Right Hand Turn. Is This Nornal Or Can I Correct It Using The Adj. Tab. Needing Your Help!!!!!! Thanks

Re: Adjustable Trim Tab

The trim tab is to compensate for the natural torque of the engine. As you've found out.... letting go of the wheel, the boat naturally torques right.

Move the trim tab a slight bit at a time IN THE DIRECTION OF THE PULLING, operating the boat between adjustments until the steering is neutralized, that is no pulling and easy steering in both directions.

Re: Adjustable Trim Tab

pulling right , move back of tab to right. doubt you get it all. they make no feed back steering, that is really recommended for that size engine.

Re: Adjustable Trim Tab

Just keep in mind that no feedback and hydraulic systems don't fix problems, they just hide them or make them more manageable. Here is a link to a good discussion of some of the problems:
