Hello,
I have resurrected my '59 50hp starflite. Now trying to integrate it into my current Glasspar boat that it belongs to.
I am needing to adjust the gear linkage so that the remote control can pull it into forward. I have adjusted the screw that connects the remote control to the gear lever, but even at maximum it doesn't cleanly pull the gear into forward.
Are there any other adjustments to possibly pull the lever itself further back? There is a bolt and a screw on the exterior of the lever. Can i adjust the linkage from here?
Thanks!
Ian

Yes, the shifter lever can be repositioned on the shaft to give it a more favorable position in relation to the cable.

Did you adjust the belcrank, under the cowling? That is supposed to allow you to center the shift arm, so forward and reverse are at the same points.

BTW - the gearcases were the weak link (IMO) on those motors. The shift dogs used to wear down....
