Adjusting Teleflex Cable Length - Possible?

Hi there,

I want to convert my little 12? Tracker to remote steering. I?ve sourced most of the parts online but I?m having some problems with the steering system.

As you can imagine the boat?s tiny and the cable run from the console to the engine will be very short.

Here?s the question is it possible to cut existing Teleflex cables to a custom length?

Or would I have to get Teleflex to make me a custom cable?

Any input would be appreciated as I?m very new to this boating thing!

Those cables are not adjustable. Just buy the shortest one and coil it with wire ties in the back. The instructions will tell you the minimum coil radius you can have without binding the cable.

Measure the distance from the middle of your steering wheel placement to the edge of the tilt tube on the starboard side and then add 18" for proper cable length. The shortest cable available that I have seen is 11" this may or may not be too long. I just replaced my steering system and the instructions say that the tightest radius curve you should put in the cable is 8".

No length is specified, can these be cut to custom a length?

i believe the shortest of both are 8 feet.

Looks like I'll have a lot coiled cable under the floor (i'll be putting in a ply floor) or in my splashwell!
