Adjusting the skeg?

Ok, so I have searched the posts and can't quite seem to find anything on adjusting my skeg. My boat rolls hard to the right when on plane. I do not have a trim fin. My motor is a 1970 evinrude and there isn't one on it. I had initially thought my weight distribution was the issue, but i have tried all that shifting of weight, which isn't much, and the boat still rolls to the right.
I had thought about trim tabs, but I think this will just cover up the real issue, which I haven't found yet. I have also looked at the hull to see if there was a problem there. None found. My question is how do I tell if my skeg is out of adjustment? Is this a visual thing? And if bent, what is the proper way to re-align it?

Thanks in advance. This is my first post on iboats.com

Re: Adjusting the skeg?

The skeg will make the STEERING pull to one side. Adjusting it is a trial and error process, where you make the steering wheel effort as easy to turn one way as the other.

I don't think it'll make your boat roll. Is the skeg now pointed pretty much straight back? Suspect you may have another problem.

Re: Adjusting the skeg?

I will look tonight and see whats up with the skeg. I wish I had a trim fin on the motor. This would probably fix the problem.
