advanced timing ?

i have a 1991 evinrude 40 and my advanced timing is supposed to be set at 19 degrees states the breather cover.since i have made that adjustment when i push my handle to wot i have to pull it back a little to get my butterflies horizontal.at the 26 degrees it was set at previously they were horizontal . did i do something wrong

i highly recommend this method, very simple, but you use 4 degrees less so you are looking for 15 BTC, then you have to set you throttle linkage to match the timing. it is called synchronization. there is the exact procedure in the OEM Service Manual. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=228183
