I have a 2001 Pathfinder 1900v bayboat with an f115 yamaha and a stiletto 13 1/4 x 17 prop on it. I get good speed at wot around 42 mph. However, my rpms are at 55-5600. I am not really interested in more speed, but I have read that those 4 strokes prefer 6000 rpms at wot. Would I get that if I dropped down to a 16 pitch?

Thanks!!

Re: Advice needed

Your numbers don't add up you can't go 42 with the numbers you quote.
If your speed is by the speedometer i would suspect it is optimistic.
Other possibility is the tach is reading low.
A gps is a better source. Rpm range is 5000 to 6000 if your satisfied with hole shot and load carrying
I would leave well enough alone.

Re: Advice needed

the speed was on GPS. The fastest I have had it was 44. However, the tach was about shot and I was going off those numbers. I have replaced my tach this week, so I am interested in what it shows. Thanks for the info.
