Hello I am looking at buying a new boat after the first of the year. This will be my first boat ever and
I am looking for all of the advice and insight that I can get. I am looking for a fishing boat that has either a dual console set
up or a walkthrough windshield. The only thing I will be useing the boat for will be fishing and a little bit of just
rideing around from time to time. I am a Disabled Vet so I will not be doing any skieing or tubeing and my wife doesnt know how to swim so she wont be out there at all. We just want to fish. I would appericated any and all comments and sugestions. I do want an alunium boat that much I do know.
Thank you

I have a 1990 V170 Crestliner Phantom. Dual console, walk through windshield, 110 evinrude. Sounds like something like that would fit your needs. It rides extremely well through the chop. Seems like there a quite a few around. Any of the newer Crestliners would work fine as well.

What kind of water will you be fishing? Big Lakes? Reservoirs? Rivers? What sort of waves does the boat need to handle? What kind of fishing will you be doing? Are you looking for a used boat, a new boat? What size? What vehicle are you going to pull it with? Answer those questions and it will get you to a good starting point to start your search.

I agree with Boatnut - Crestliners have a great hull and seem to handle the chop really well. I have a '96 sportfish 1750 and really like it. I like the all-welded hull. no rivets to check for leaks... of course there are arguments against that too...

Re: Advice on Crestliner boats

Well I live here in central Kentucky so I will be fishing in lakes both large and small and I will on ocasion go out on the Ohio river.
As far as the type of fishing I will be doing? I like to fish for Bass, Catfish, and panfish like Bluegill. I also have a old 1/2 ton dodge that will due the towing untill I get a new Ford 3/4 ton 4x4. I know that I want to stay with an alunium boat because of the price and I like the looks of them. Also to me they seam that they would be more durable vs a fiberglass boat.

I love mine.It does everything I ask of it.I almost bought another fiberglass boat but remembering all the work I did saving my Stratos [rotted transom and stringers what a pain and so much work]I decided to wait until I found a crestliner.Mines a 1750 Nordic with a 115 merc like a fish and ski.Great family boat and a good fishing boat.Good luck finding one they're pretty scarce around here.

Mine is a 94 1750 SportFish and I love it. Would not take for it. I guide out of it during the fall, winter, and spring and take the wife and kids out on it in the late spring and summer. It handles big water and skinny water equally as well. This is probably the best boat that I have ever had. The new ones are suppose to be even better, and I will probably buy one if this one ever wears out.
