I need to replace the two trim solenoids on my 1986 150XR2 Merc. Is there a trick to get them out? It's a tight area there. Any advice or a brief procedure is appreciated.

The most important thing is to disconnect the battery

Anyone else have experience with this? The bolts to remove the solenoid bracket are about 3/4" from the carbs. Maybe I could use a crows foot or something like a distributor wrench with a 90 degree bend.

I think I had to take the choke plate off to get at them. It's really not that big a deal, just a bunch of putzing.

Might as well change both while you're at it.

hope it helps
