Hi guys,

I have just rebuilt, installed and, tested my rebuilt 85 alpha one outdrive on a 85 350 Mercruiser. I have also had the marina crane put my boat in the water only to find out that I forgot to install the little white plastic tube collar that goes on the outside of the copper water pump pick up tube.

Considering I have tested and driven the boat for 2 days what do you think if any damage has been done and what is the exact purpose of this tube? Can I live with out it? I dread paying another 200$ to have the Marina crane pull my boat to reinstall a plastic tube.

thanks

The tube is only there to guide the copper tube into the pump. You obviously have hit the tube, cause it works.
Just put that white tube in next time you take the drive off. It makes things a lot easier to line up.

It's amazing how receptive they are when you tell them exactly what they want to hear.:D

200 bucks to have your boat put in? Holy cr@p, I hate paying 5 - 10 bucks to launch my boat, each time, but 200 just because a crane lifts you in, phst, that better include a summer's supply of beer or something
