If I understand it correctly, I am to place the water separator between the tank and the bulb. If this is the case, I have only one option: place the filter apparatus in the bilge, which the gas line passes through. It won't be under water (I rarely get any water in there), and if any water gets in, the filter would be well above. Only electronics would be the bilge and aerator pump. I can't see that I have any other options -- there's just no place else to put it!

Do you guys see that this is a problem? Access is as simple as a 8-inch access port. No problem checking/changing the filter. Thanks for your help!

I don't see anything wrong with that. Just so it's accessible.

c/6

Hooty

I asked around before doing this last year, all the center console boats i saw had the filter/sep between the bulb and outboard, mounted on the
transom inner or side corner
It worked fine, As long as its before the engine right ?

I WANT IT WHERE I CAN SEE IT ALL THE
TIME

you can place this any where you like as long as it is accessable and I always try and install them higher than the top of the fuel tank so that if it leaks or when you change the fuel you dont end up with gas all over the place.
;)

bryanredfish,
If you are installing a Racor type filter, they reccommend using the "Inboard filter w/metal bowl" for below decks instead of the plastic bowl "Outboard type" for above-deck installations. If the filter is readily accessable this may not be necessary.Check West Marine website... ;)

Re: Advice on Water Separator Installation

Thanks for all the great advice. I think the only place I can put it is on the transom, between the bulb and the o/b. I guess I can change it should it not work out. The problem kind of resolves itself if I don't worry about the "between the tank and bulb" issue.

It's a little awkward in this boat, which is a center console bay boat. Not a lot of room.
