From what I have read on searches my problem is general across multiple manufactures. I have a 150 Mercury, 2-Cycle, 6-Cylinder, w/3 carburetors. It has the common problem of fuel-oil mix leaking from the carburetor bowls when engine is tilted up higher than 45*. This happens when I beach the boat or at sandbars, with my deeper draft and longshaft engine the high tilt is needed to get the skeg out of the water. The boat is rack stored on an upper rack due to it's height. The marina has informed me the residual oil in the pan was dripping onto the swim platform of the boat racked directly below mine. Rather than pull the cowl and have to clean up the drip in 90* heat after each use is it OK to use an oil absorbent pad in an outboard. I have used similar bilge socks in a previously owned inboard, but was wondering if there is any safety or other concern with putting one in an outboard.
