Just bought a 2001 188SD I/O. Great boat, but still learning about the boat. There is a live-well in the bow of the boat, but for the life of me I can't find the switch to turn on the aerator. Can anyone provide me help on how to fill the live-well?

Re: Aerator pump switch

Mine has switches at the helm (SD 217) for pumping and aerating. If your not getting water, be sure the valve is open. Mine has a valve on the inlet line right where it comes through the transom, and another valve on the drain line which is close to the fill line.

Re: Aerator pump switch

All of the boats have a livewell upfront, however not all are outfitted from the factory with the plumbing and pump to use it. Does it have a drain and a water inlet near the top (on the side)? If not, its simply a storage compartment. My GS170 was this way, my SS188 is setup as a livewell.

Start with checking in the bilge area of your boat. Does it have 2 pumps (one for the bilge and one for the livewell) If it was available, their should be a console LIVEWELL switch at the helm.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your responses. Yes, there is a water inlet at the top and a drain. I haven't noticed a second pump (other than the bilge) so I am guessing that it wasn't outfitted with the plumbing as you say. I will take a closer look for a second pump, but there is definitely no switch at the helm labeled for for the aerator/pump... Thanks again for the help....
