1988 Regal, Sebring, 4.3 Alpha One, gen 1. - So I buy a cheap trim sender/limiter set on line. It has the usual 2 wire leads on each side, but all 4 ends have bullet ends. No markings or indication as to which wire goes to which connection. There is a pig tail adapter with ring ends to attach to the pump. The trim limiter will connect to the pump directly. The trim sender will attach to a wire harness. Any ideas how to figure out the correct hook up? No need to suggest getting new product. I already have them installed and if you know the gen 1, it has 2 (two) bolts in the retainer at the transom. One you can reach. The other, only a young pigmy girl with long fingers can screw in.

:welcome:

One of the senders has the same gender for each lead and the other sender has one of each . . . just can't remember which is which . . . but that may help you sort it out.

Sounds the same as the OEM type.

I've installed a couple of the Sierra and they were plug and play.
I thought the wiring could only be installed one way.

Next time you can use the retainer from a Gen II which just uses the lower bolt.
Lots of people reinstall the 2 bolt retainer with just the lower bolt.

Here's the OEM install sheet which I believe is the same as the Sierra.
