After painting.

I am currently sanding and preparing my 29 foot cruisers for painting.

What is recommended after painting? I plan on two coats of interlux brightsides, but was wondering what I should do when the paint has dried...I want as shiny of a finish as possible. Are there any other actions I need to do after painting? clear coat etc?

I would imagine waxing would be the last step, any recommendations on brand of wax?

thanks

Re: After painting.

The paint should dry with a good shine.
If the surface is properly prepped and primed, you should get good holdout on the paint. Two coats of paint may not be enough depending on the surface preparation. A third coat may be needed to get that shine your looking for.
The paint must fill and build on the surface before it gets a good shine.

I don't think Interlux makes a clear coat for Brightside.

Hi,

I have used Interlux Brightside in the past. I strongly recommend using Interlux Perfection. I find it levels much nicer and will give you a great shine.

Thanks for the advice guys, I already have the paint so getting perfection is not an option. Interlux even recommended brightsides but did not explain why. I just did not know if I needed to do anything special after painting...other than wax the boat.

The beer and dinner sound good, but since I don't have kids I'll have to borrow the neighbors....no wait....a 3 year old Bassett classifies as a kid...
...and he loves to eat!

Re: After painting.

Are you painting the topsides? Or part of the hull?

It seems odd they'd recommend brightsides instead of perfection, but maybe they know more about what you're doing :)
