Aftermarket Power Pulse Voltage Suppressor??

I'm afraid I might have fried my power pulse pack by messing with the battery.. I can't seem to see a voltage suppressor near the power pulse like diagrams show.

It's an aftermarket power pulse made by Wabash, for a Johnson 1968 100 HP motor.
Do they have them built in? I've heard only originals need them, is that correct?

Does anybody know whether the Wabash power packs have voltage suppressors built in or know how to find out?
