Aftermarket power trim motors

Since Mercury finds it not acceptable to sell the motor as a separate part:mad-new:, any in-service reports/comments on the available aftermarket ones? Sierra etc...etc..

I bought one off of amazon last year. While it runs well, it is already rusted very heavily at the water line. The original motor was 15 years old without any rust penetration. I also had to custom cut the drive hex to fit.

My original Merc ones rusted up..(4 years) but i live in a rather salty environment...Merc wont sell the motor separately for my 225 Optimax, so I'll try these for a fraction of the price of a whole new trim unit...

Serial # for your outboard is ??-----They seem to show some trim motors sold seperately on ------mercruiserparts.com--- Have you tried looking it up there?

All I'm getting from my dealer, and he showed me their parts breakdown..is "NSS" not sold separately when referencing the part number...anyway see how the Sierra ones hold up...the original Merc ones rusted up quite fast, and this is with a fresh water hosedown after each voyage, but my boat is in a wet slip, so they are subjected to a salt environment...thanks for the references...
