I would say go with the cheaper. You should replace it couple of seasons anyway. My 2c

Re: aftermarket vs OEM

Some aftermarket parts are as good as - or in some cases (rare) - better than OE. Some are not as good. Sometimes the aftermarket supplier is forced (or chooses) to get parts from a different supplier. They may or may not be the same as what you bought before. Experience is the only way to know. As a general rule of thumb with water pumps and carb kits you usually get what you pay for.

Sometimes the aftermarket part isnt the same. Take for example the V6 Evin/John water pumps. If a V6 requires a high volume kit but the aftermarket kit is a standard pump you could end up with problems.

Look at the warranty. If the pump fails and the motor overheats and scuffs pistons, are they going to rebuild your powerhead or simply give you another pump kit?

Lots to consider....

The OE parts book for any motor will have the correct number. Any "split line" gearcase uses the hi volume pump. We use the hi volume pump in all motors.
