age of evinrude

i am trying to find the age of a 50 hp evinrude for a friend. the only thing he could find on it is E50EELCC8 serial # G17341--.

anyone know how to find the age? thanks, jhjimmy

Are you sure of the model #? There is an E50BELCCS for a 1988 Here is the link http://www.boats.net/parts/search/BRP/EVINRUDE/1988/parts.html

Recheck your transom tag I believe it actual reads E50BELCCS which would make your 50 a 1988.
