Air conditioner strainer

Does anyone know how to remove this air conditioner filter/strainer? Can’t seem to screw it off so tight! Water not coming out side of boat and I think I need to clean this to fix that issue

It should unscrew, but sometimes many years of not being maintained makes that quite difficult
