For a 1979 Johnson 2st 70hp is it possible/preferable to have some form of air filter. Is it possible to even fit one, or do you rely on the foam and lining of the engine cover?
A good point. Though what about paint flakes from the engine and bits of foam that fall/break off the inside of the cover. Possibly these small bits don't matter at all though.
John
was funnin a bit. glad ya got a sense of humour
actually the small mist that collects on the airbox cover tends to hold the debris. the foam on the hood is for sound dampning. if its crumbling get rid of it, it can and will ocasionally clog air orifices. but for the most part there is no need to filter the air on an outboard.
