1979 Johnson Seahorse 4 H.P. Model #4w79d
There is a single nob that is marked slow and fast. The motor is running great but I have never messed with it, could I make the motor idle smoother with this nob? or get more speed with it? what is it used for? The motor only has forward gear. I dont know why the motor was built with no neutral or reverse?

Thanks,
Suzuki40

Re: Air/Fuel mixture screw...

Sounds like the slow/fast knob is the throttle (fuel/spark advance). I have a 71' & 73' 4hp rudes. Both of mine have a single lever on the side of the motor for the throttle. Both have 2 needle valves on the carb. The top needle is for slow idle mixture, the bottom needle is for high speed mixture adjustment. No neutral or reverse gears---straight direct drive. You just start the motor and hang on. To get reverse, rotate the motor 180 degrees.
