air intake scoop

Hello, it's me again with the 78 galaxie 22xl

Question is, my engine compartment is completely closed from getting any air, that's the way it was when I bought it.

This can't be good for making power.

Where can I find those stainless steel scoops that I see some boats have? I want to put a tall intake per Dennis Moore on the boat, and I don't think the engine cover will close if I put the taller intake on.

Where does one find a scoop, or do I have to try to fab one. Which way should I make it face, towards the bow or stern?

Thanks

Re: air intake scoop

My old boat had those scoops. They vent the Bilge. You have vents as well I would think. You could mount one above your carb and pipe it right into the carb.;)

Where do they sell those scoops? The ones I am speaking of are like 8 inches long.

I want to cut a hole in the top of the engine cover to allow air in.

Re: air intake scoop

doesn't your engine compartment have a blower?
The vent has to face towards the bow so it can scoop air to get the RAM AIR effect.

No i am talking about the big vents that you mount on the engine compartment that enter around the carb.

I have the louvered vents on the side of the boat that go to ventilate the bilge.

I have seen some on older style boats like mine.
