Hi, My question is about air on fuel line, I went out this morning fill mi Fuel tank, and I did some trolling all day, at the end of the day Fuel was less than ¼ tank and the motor shuts off , I turn on the motor again and it shuts off ageing, I notice that the squilly pump ( Hand Pump on fuel line) was empty so I pump until it was hard run the motor again and it gat empty but this time I press the pump until it was hard and that was the only way I came home by pressing the pump. Now I came home and I check my fuel tank, fuel line and everything was ok, what I notice was that the thru-hull vent was broken and the fuel was going thru the boat hull instead of outside, you can smell the fuel thru the rod holder and the bilge pump was with fuel also. (The smell was really bad) Is this broken vent the solution of my problem or it could be something else? Why air is going thru the fuel line?
Thank you

Sounds like he's talking about the fuel tank vent for a built in tank.

If you are getting fuel into the bilge, your messing with a very dangerous situation.

DO NOT USE THAT BOAT UNTIL YOU FIND WHAT IS CAUSING FUEL TO GET INTO YOUR BILGE AND YOU HAVE IT FIXED. And you have cleaned out the fuel that has gotten in there.

One spark and the thing could explode!!!!

pbailey

Hi, I was referring to the fuel tank vent for a built in tank, I have remove and clean all the fuel that gat on the bilge pump. Is it possible that fuel was coming out thru that broken vent instead of air and gat inside the boat? If the fuel tank vent is broken can that be the reason why air is going thru the fuel line?
Thank you

eula,

From what I read, I have these theories.

1. You have a leaking hose. Most likely between the inbboard fuel tank and the connection at the engine.

2. Or, you have another line leaking-possibly the fuel vent line-doubtfully.

My bet is to look at theory #1.

Re: Air on the Fuel line

Hi, I try the motor today with a external fuel tank, new hose and new connector, and the motor it still doing the same, I check the fuel line on the motor and I saw a fuel line that it was wet with fuel (The one that sucks fuel from the tank) and there was 2 broken plastic clamps on that same fuel line maybe that’s where the problem is I’m really hopping for that. I will put some new clamps on Friday and I will keep you post it.
Thank you
