I'm new to outboards so sorry for the dumb questions. Is a 7.5 Ted Williams air or water cooled. Is the fuel mix 32:1 and regular 2cycle oil or marine. Going to look at one tomorrow and need to bring my tank to see it run. Thanks for the help.

Re: air or water cooled

It's both air-cooled and water cooled. The engine is air-cooled but an impeller pumps water to cool the midsection. If the pump isn't working, the mid section will get very hot and that's not good for the outboard at all.

You should be OK with 32:1 mixture. Some people use TCW3 outboard oil. Others use 2-stroke oil designed for air-cooled engines. I prefer the latter in those engines, but it'll work either way.

Isn't there a Ted williams based on the McCulloch 7.5?
That would be water cooled.
I don't know that I would buy either one.Parts are to hard to find for either one when you can go to your local NAPA,iboats, and BRP dealer and get routine parts for Evinrude Johnson motors all the way back to the early 50s.
I bought coils for my 55 Gale(close cousin to E/J)on ebay I think $17.00 ea.
With the various venders I've mentioned and the ebay sellers I probably had a dozen choices for parts. And the bonus the OMC based motors are smoother, quieter, more reliable and more powerful.
