I just rebuilt the carbs on my 81 75hp Evinrude and as I was about to mount the Air Silencer to the carbs I noticed that the plastic Air Silencer was warped where it mounts to the carbs, I did a dry fit to the carbs (without the gasket) to see how much of a gap between the carbs and the silencer the warping had created, it is at least if not more than the thickness of the gasket.

My question is this, how critical is getting a tight seal between the carbs and the silencer?

When I bought the new silencer to carb gaskets ther was two in the package, should I use both gaskets to make up for the gap, or replace the Air Silencer too?

if u want moisture to get in, leave it off
no moisture put it on
it will sound louder also without it

One gasket only should be used. Tightening the screws/bolts will eliminate the warping

If both gaskets are identical, it was an error in your favor..
