I have a 2010 Mercruiser 5.0TKS carburated S/N1A603164 with an Alpha S/N 1A240442. The alarm goes off when slowing down from full throttle (WOT 4800+) right at 4000rpms. It is a single beep. It does not go off if cruising at 4000rpms, only when slowing down. All gauges show fine with water temp at 170-180, oil pressure at 40 at idle and 75 at WOT. I did notice when I changed the drive lube I over filled the drive lube bottle. It is about 3/8 inch above the max full line. could that be the issue. Otherwise it seems to run fine. I am out of ideas. I could use the opinions of the experts here at iboats.

Re: Alarm goes off slowing down

Well even though I got no responses, I believe I have solved the problem. When I changed the stern drive fluid, I did not follow the directions perfectly. When putting the fluid in, I pumped until it came out of the upper hole, put the plug in, removed the hose at the bottom and put that plug in (quickly) and then filled the drive lube bottle. I failed to do as directed, which is to continue to pump the fluid in from the bottom after the fluid comes out the top (and after you re-install the top plug) until it shows in the drive lube bottle.

I believe that one of two things occurred: I let air in the system via the hose from the drive lube bottle to the stern drive, or by pumping until it shows up in the bottle, it back flushes the sensor at the bottle. Does this make any sense to anyone? After doing the process correctly, the alarm and the noise disappeared!

Sounds like you figured it out. I wish my problems were that easy to fix. Sometimes after reading all of these issues others are having, it make me wonder why I have a boat. Not really, I love boating!
