I have a 2000 Glastron 175sx with the Volvo 4.3. The "alarm" always comes on when key is in the on position but immediately goes off once started. However, this weekend it came on while running the boat. Temp, oil pressure gauges were fine and boat ran great. What does the alarm signal and any advice you can give so I don't cause any further damage if something is indeed wrong?

Thanks!!

What is the full model number (all the letters) or serial number of your engine?

Great, you have a 4.3GLPEFS (I added it to your original post to make it easier to find).

That model only has 2 things to cause the alarm. Low oil pressure, and high engine temp.

The low oil pressure switch is why you have the alarm with the key on and the engine not running. No oil pressure.

Since both gauges showed normal, to test the alarm switches, remove the tan/black striped wire from the temp switch and the oil pressure switch one at a time with the engine running and see which one stops the alarm when disconnected. That would be the faulty switch.

Re: Alarm on 2000 Glastron 175sx

Awesome, thank you so much!!

Another question please??
This all happened on Friday so after sitting all day Saturday, I hooked up the hose to her Sunday evening and turned her over. Running (or sounding) perfect but the beep was on immediately while running. Since she sat for a day and a half, could that be the cause of high temp? Or does that narrow my search down to oil pressure?

Thank you so much for All of your help!

How long it set doesn't mean anything. If you start it up and the alarm stays on it could still be either one.

Just go start it on muffs and see which one is causing the problem.

could that be the cause of high temp?

You said the gauges were fine, do you have high temp?

Yes sir, the gauges read fine (temp was normal and pressure was good) and will do! Maybe a faulty gauge so will do one at a time and go from there. Thank you so much for help!!

I just stumbled on this. I'm having a similar issue on a 2004 Glastron MX185 with Volvo Penta engine. So I think VERY similar.

Can you give any details about "replacing" switch, etc.? Where do I find it, etc.????
